Q: Are oxy-fuel torch tips specific to the fuel?

I have a torch set with a cutting head (which can take tips specific to various fuel gasses) and nozzles / tips / heads / attachments for heating and welding. The torch set is designated as meant for Acetylene use. But is there a good reason that i CAN'T use propane / lpg through those nozzles? Just with different settings. They're just tubes with correct fitting faces to mate with the torch right? Though the gasses are entering them separately, so i guess they're mixer chambers too.? Am i missing something? Am i about to blow myself up?
[It's a messer starlight torch set, in case anyone wants to know]
