$5 Million Harbor Freight Tools Pocket Knife Recall

Harbor Freight Tools have recalled over one million pocket knives following reports of the ‘Gordon Folding Knife’ failing to lock in place.

If you own a Gordon Folding Knife from Harbor Freight Tools, please return it to your local Harbor Freight Tools store to receive a $5 store gift card (plus sales tax) in lieu of the folding knife.

The Gordon Folding Knife was sold online, by telephone and via the Harbor Freight Tools stores for an 11 year period, between July 2008 and July 2019.

Details of the Recall

The Gordon Folding Knife is approximately 3 inches long and crafted from stainless steel. The handle has black metal coloring with five cutouts on each side of the handle. One side of the blade has ‘China’ printed on it, the other side ‘Stainless Steel’. There is a silver metal belt clip attached to one side of the handle.

What Happened to Cause a Recall?

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Harbor Freight Tools has received seven reports of the knife failing to lock, resulting in six reports of laceration injuries, including four that required medical attention.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has advised consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Gordon Folding Pocket Knife and return them to a Harbor Freight Tools Store.

The recall was initiated by Harbor Freight Tools and reported voluntarily to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission under its fast track recall process. Fast Track recalls are initiated by firms, who commit to work with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to quickly announce the recall and remedy to protect consumers.
